An even greener Norway - adventures in nature with nature in mind.

Welcome to Amazing Norway! A country known for it’s natural beauty, the mighty mountains and scenic fjords, the pure white snow and untouched wilderness. Lest’s keep it that way! Come visit us leaving a minimal footprint behind. Join electric fjordcruises, find inner peace with amazing views on some of the most beautiful train journeys in the world, or go litter picking in the fjords by kayak.

Amazing Fjords is Eco-certified under the Eco-Lighthouse standard. With this we are proud to be a part of the green wave that are spreading across the globe. This gives us the tools to continue our work and a golden opportunity to watch our own footprint as well as help businesses and private guests to reach their goals for more sustainable programs and experiences. We have been and will continue in an even greater scale producing sustainable programs for small and large groups with a minimal footprint.

We are experiencing year by year an increase in requests for sustainable options from both Norwegian and foreign clients alike. And this is reflected in our choices, aiming to constantly increase our number of environmentally sertified suppliers and partners. We are already able to offer electric ships, cars, busses and boats, we add electric trains for both comfort and environment and we have a large focus on adventures in nature as hiking, biking, kayaking and glacier walks combined with local guides and food experiences.

We will set ourselves yearly goals to keep improving in all ways possible. More sustainable programs all over Norway, an increasing number of environmentally certified suppliers and an overall greener profile. We can all do a little, but together we can do alot!

1. Use public transport

Travelling by public transport is a good way to start, and the most environmentally friendly option to get around our long country. The trainjourneys with Bergensbanen, Flåmsbana, Raumabanen, Nordlandsbanen and Ofotbanen are voted some of the most beautiful train journeys in the world, making the transfers a truly important part of the tour.

Island hopping with scheduled boats is a great way to explore the Norwegian coastline for example from Bergen, Ålesund, Kristiansund, Trondheim, Sandnessjøen or Bodø. These regular boat routes give you the opportunity to explore popular locations with minimal footprint.

The Kjosfossen waterfall is a stop on the 50 min journey and it also provides all the electricity for the railway, making it as green as the valley it runs through (at least in the summer). Make sure to look out for the Huldra;) Foto Sverre Hjørnevik, Flåm AS.

2. Electric road trip

ISO 14001 certified TIDE (national bus company) are well on there way of becoming electric. Not only do they have 37 electric sceduled busses, but now they are turning their tourbus park electric as well! In February 2021 the very first electric tourbus class 3 (as a normal tourbus) in Europe arrives in Norway. And from fall 2021 there will be further additions to this up and down the country. We look forward to be able to offer these to more and more of our guests no matter location.

Or why not try a biking holiday? With an E-bike is is more fun and far less of an effort to travel by bike in our hilly country, you can even get a tiny trailer for the kids!

Every car rental in Norway will offer electric vehicles in all price ranges. With more than 10 000 charging points they are a practical and very green mode of transport for your holiday. You find all the charging points here: ladestasjoner.no. Tesla offer their own superchargers and many hotels also offer parking with charging facilities. In Oslo the company Greenmobile offers electric car rental by the minute, perfect for short transfers. In Geiranger and Flåm you can go sightseeing in fun and speedy eMobility cars.

4. Sustainable destinations

In Norway we have a continously increasing number of destinations working hard to reduce their environmental footprint, providing once in a lifetime experiences and be a great place to both live in and visit. They make up the  Sustainable Destinations, the Nordic region’s only national labelling scheme for travel destinations. It is a tool for sustainable development of businesses and destinations when it comes to the environment, the local community, the cultural heritage, and the economy. Visit them and get experiences to last a lifetime!

Røros, Lillehammer, Lysefjorden, Lofoten, Geilo, Lyngenfjord-region, Lindesnes and Mandal, Tromsø, Trysil and the Geirangerfjord just to mention a few.

5. A natural activity mecca

Norway is a natural amusementpark! Use your own power to get around wether it is hiking, biking, climbing, kayaking, skiing, glacier walks, via ferratas, ziplines, rafting and many more. You can rent equipment and join guided tours all over the country. We always recommend using local guides, especially when it comes to off piste skiing, as they contribute to a safe tour with their local knowledge, as well as adding a local perspective, interesting history and contributing to the local economy.

Should you wish for an easier ride then we can provide E-bikes, E-scooters, Segways, tiny E-mobility cars and more. Or how about trying real natural horsepowers - trotting along white sandy beaches or crossing wide mountain plains.
